The Lagos State Government, through its safety commission, has directed an immediate shutdown of the Lekki Conservation Center (LCC) for routine maintenance.
Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, announced the development on Wednesday in a post on Instagram.
Mojola said a viral video illustrating the deteriorating condition of the facility informed the decision.
An X user identified as Chude Nnamdi had, in a video, expressed concerns about the deteriorating condition of the canopy walk bridge at the center.
The management of LCC also issued a press statement stating that the center had been closed for maintenance and will be reopened on February 1, 2024.
The Lekki Conservation Center is a 78-hectare (190-acre) natural resource conservation, established in 1990 to serve as a biodiversity conservation icon.
