The Lagos State Government has pardoned popular singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley for violating the state’s lockdown order.

Naira Marley was arraigned before the Chief Magistrates’ Court ealier today alongside
a former governorship candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife for attending a birthday party hosted by Funke Akindele and husband, JJC Skillz.

While briefing newsmen after the court session, defence counsel, Ebun-olu Adegboruwa said that the government withdrew the four-count charges filed against them.

Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, A. G. Oshoala, informed the court that since the defendants have shown remorse, the state was willing to quash the charges on three conditions.

First, the defendants will write a formal apology to the governor of Lagos State.

Second, the defendants will sign an undertaking to comply with all COVID-19-related regulations.

Third, the defendants will go on self-isolation for 14 days in order to protect others that they may come in contact with.

The magistrate gave the defendants 24 hours to comply with the conditions and adjourned till Thursday for withdrawal or plea as the case may be.

TCN reported that Funke Akindele and her husband pleaded guilty to hosting the party despite the coronavirus lockdown on Monday and were sentenced to 14 days of community service and also fined N100,000 each by Ogba magistrate court.
