Veteran musician, Zaaki Azzay, has announced his resignation as the second vice president of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), saying he has completely withdrawn from all activities connected to the association.

In a statement on Saturday, Zaaki said recent developments within PMAN compelled him to step aside in order to protect his integrity and reputation.

The statement read, “I, Zaaki Azzay, hereby announce my resignation from my position as the 2nd Vice President of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN). I take my integrity and reputation very seriously, and recent developments within the Association have compelled me to formally distance myself from its affairs,” he declared.

He also referred to ongoing disputes involving PMAN, its former president Pretty Okafor, and Olusco Heritage Investment Ltd over land in Abuja, saying such matters were part of the reasons he had earlier chosen to step down.

“My attention has been drawn to the ongoing incidents involving Pretty Okafor and Olusco Heritage Investment Ltd regarding the Association’s land in Abuja. I wish to state categorically that issues of this nature are the very reasons I earlier stepped down from my position in PMAN,” Zaaki said.

Commenting on a video of Pretty Okafor circulating online, Zaaki added: “With respect to the former President of PMAN, Pretty Okafor, I would prefer not to dwell on his character”

The singer clarified that he has no involvement in any dealings linked to the Association.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state clearly that I am not involved in any unauthorized activities in relation to PMAN. Going forward, I kindly request that my privacy be respected, as I have completely withdrawn and distanced myself from all PMAN-related activities,” he stated.
