It was a mixture of a keen sense of history, culture and camaraderie when the Isale Eko Descendants Union held its annual Isale Eko Day celebration on Saturday.
Comprised of prominent Lagosians, the body is an association of Isale-Eko indigenes and their descendants who have been marking the annual celebration for many years. Saturday’s event included a visit to the palace of Oba of Lagos, to pay obeisance to Oba Rilwanu Akiolu. The celebration also involved a walk through landmark parts of Isale Eko.
Some of the prominent sons of Isale Eko who were part of the celebration were former Minister and one-time ambassador, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Former Attorney General in Lagos State, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, SAN; frontline politician, Fouad Oki, Mr. Yomi Tokosi, and wife of former governor of Ogun State, Beere Derin Osoba.
The isale eko day was capped up with a gala dinner at the City hall in Lagos where prominent indigenes of Isale Eko like Judge Teslim Elias were honoured.
