Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Patekar was reportedly found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula and rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes. However, they were unable to save him.
His death was confirmed by his son, Malhar Patekar, according to Indian media reports.
Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village, near Pune, Maharashtra, on Thursday.
The veteran actor was widely known for his performances in Hindi and Marathi cinema, with a career spanning nearly five decades. His notable films include Parinda, Krantiveer, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome.
He also became recognisable to many social media users through a viral laughing clip that has been widely shared in comedy videos and memes.
Patekar’s death has prompted tributes from political leaders, fellow actors and fans, who have celebrated his contribution to Indian cinema.
