Award-winning actress and producer Funke Akindele’s latest film, “Behind The Scenes,” has made history as the biggest opening weekend of 2025, crossing over the N200 million mark in just one weekend.

The feat further solidifies Akindele’s position as a box office powerhouse.

According to the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, “Behind The Scenes” has broken five opening-weekend records, becoming the first Nollywood film this year to achieve such an impressive feat.

The caption reads, “We call her the Queen of Box Office for a reason! Thank you, Nigeria, for showing up, filling cinemas, and spreading the word. Behind The Scenes crossed ₦200M in just one weekend, broke five opening-weekend records, and became the biggest opening of 2025! It’s your love that made this possible.”

The film’s advanced screening on December 10 and 11 generated significant buzz among audiences, paving the way for its nationwide release on December 12.

The film boasts an all-star cast, including Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, and Uche Montana, among others.

Her previous film, “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” became Nollywood’s biggest opening weekend of all time, surpassing her earlier record set by “A Tribe Called Judah,” which opened with N113 million.

“Everybody Loves Jenifa” went on to become the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, earning over N1.8 billion in Nigeria and additional revenue from international markets.
