Madonna and Taylor Swift emerged as the biggest winners at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), held Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Madonna took home seven of her 13 nominated categories, including ‘Artist of the Year,’ ‘Best Dance’ for her ‘Confessions II’ short film, ‘Best Collaboration’ for ‘Bring Your Love’ featuring Sabrina Carpenter, ‘Best Cinematography,’ and ‘Best Album’.
Swift won her first-ever ‘Artist Director’ award for ‘Patient Zero’. She also claimed ‘Video of the Year’ for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and ‘Best Direction’ for ‘Opalite’.
Afrofusion star Burna Boy lost the ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best Latin’ categories to Madonna and Bad Bunny, respectively.
Nigerian songstress Tems also missed out on ‘Best R&B’ to Bruno Mars for ‘I Just Might’.
Snoop Dogg hosted the show, which featured performances from Kacey Musgraves, who paid tribute to Dolly Parton.
