An accountant-turned-author, Victory Lawrence Oyeyemi, has sold over 500 copies of her debut book, In Pursuit of Her, within one week of its official launch, organisers have confirmed.
The book was unveiled on May 9 at Waterside, Lekki Phase 1, before a gathering of women from diverse backgrounds. According to attendees, the venue was filled, and the atmosphere reflected strong interest in the book’s central themes.
Victory, who trained as an accountant, described the book as a deeply personal project shaped by her own journey of healing, self-discovery, and determination to move beyond merely surviving.
Speaking after the launch, she said the goal of In Pursuit of Her is to inspire young women to embrace continuous growth, healing, and self-discovery, rather than simply existing or passively coping with life.
The book explores themes such as healing from emotional wounds, rediscovering identity and purpose, the importance of healthy female relationships and community, personal transformation, and breaking free from limiting patterns.
Victory revealed that during the writing process, she spoke with numerous women from different backgrounds, documenting their struggles, emotional battles, and life experiences. She explained that those conversations were transformed into reflective, coaching-style sessions woven into the book to help readers feel seen, understood, and empowered.
Industry observers note that across Nigeria, more women are seeking safe spaces, relatable stories, and practical guidance that reflect local realities — a gap Victory’s book appears to be filling.African Politics Analysis
Beyond the book, Victory has launched The Becoming Circle, a community platform where women share challenges, exchange ideas, and develop solutions together. The platform is designed for women who are intentional about personal growth through honest conversations, shared experiences, accountability, and mutual support.
“In Pursuit of Her is not just a book you read and forget,” Victory said. “It is an invitation to become. And The Becoming Circle is where that becoming continues.”
As part of the movement’s expansion, Victory also plans to visit schools to speak directly with young women about identity, purpose, confidence, healing, and the importance of intentional growth before life forces them into survival mode.
In Pursuit of Her is currently available on Amazon (internationally), Selar (digital access), Tebeeba, and in hard-copy format. Live book-reading sessions and community conversations are also expected to begin soon.
