Nollywood power couple Lateef and Adebimpe Adedimeji have secured the support of the Ekiti State Government for the production of a film on the historic Ekiti Parapo War.
The movie will chronicle the struggle and triumph of the Ekiti people against oppression, promising to deliver a world-class portrayal of the war’s events.
Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, disclosed the development on Tuesday, noting that the governor approved the project during a meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
The film will be a collaborative effort between the State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy and AL Notions Film Company, the production house owned by the Adedimejis.
According to Oyebode, the project will be fully funded by the private sector and led by AL Notions, known for producing the critically acclaimed “Lisabi: The Uprising”.
“They will be working with a team from the Ekiti State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, led by Honourable Commissioner Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare, one of Africa’s most accomplished Artistic Directors,” Oyebode stated.
Adebimpe Adedimeji, who hails from Ijero-Ekiti, expressed her excitement about spearheading the project alongside her husband. The couple pledged their dedication to ensuring the film receives the highest level of attention and quality.
The movie will feature Ekiti towns and villages as primary filming locations and will involve numerous talented artists, including those of Ekiti origin.
