Newly elected president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Mr. Uchenna Agbo has reeled out his plans to build a new and formidable guild for the directors.

Agbo emerged as the president-elect of the Guild at its general election conducted in seven zones of the association.

He defeated close rival director, Teco Benson to clinch the topmost position of the Guild.

According to Agbo, “My mission is to build a DGN that works for all members at home and abroad, young and veteran, famous and forgotten.”

He urged all members of the Guild to rise above division and join hands with him to restore dignity and create opportunity and direction for the directors’ body.

“With deep humility and immense gratitude, I accept the responsibility you have bestowed upon me as the newly elected President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria.

“This moment is not mine alone, it belongs to every member who believed in the possibility of a new dawn, who dared to hope that our Guild could rise again with strength, structure, and soul,” Agbo said in his acceptance speech.

As the incumbent Chairman of the Nigeria Film Festival Association and founder/CEO of the Coal City Film Festival, Agbo promised to make DGN great again.

Agbo, sworn in later, will succeed Dr. Victor Okhai, who has led the guild for two terms since 2021.

He will lead as the 9th president of the Guild since it was founded in 1999.

Other elected members were Mrs. Grace Edwin-Okon, National Vice President; Perekeme Odon, National Secretary; and Mr. Ofia Mbaka, who returned as assistant. National Secretary after he ran unopposed for the job.

The former chairman of the Abuja chapter, Mr Emmanuel Tagbo Eyaba, emerged as the new National Public Relations Officer.

Former Treasurer Osita Okolie emerged as the National Financial Secretary, while Mr John Paul Nwanganga returned unopposed as the National Welfare Service Director.

Prince Cyril Udubrakpor also emerged as the National Chief Whip (Provost), while Mr Ebuka Onuma emerged as the National Treasurer.

Meanwhile, Grace Edwin-Okon becomes the first woman to occupy that position in the Guild’s history
