Children’s Authors Visit Island For Book Week

Children’s authors are speaking to young islanders as part of an annual book week.

Peter Bently, Jenny Pearson, and Ele Fountain will tour schools across the bailiwick and organisers said they would “celebrate the magic of reading” with more than 5,000 children.

The award-winning authors will also host public events at the Guille-Allès Library including creative writing workshops and a story and crafts session.

Ellie Fowkes, the library’s schools lead, said the week was “always great fun” and it was a “wonderful opportunity” for children to meet the writers.

Ms Fowkes said: “We’re extremely excited to be welcoming three brilliant authors to the island this year.

“Author visits make a lasting impact on children – they help inspire a love of reading and writing, and above all encourage children to read for pleasure, which is so important for both their education and their wellbeing.

“We can’t wait to introduce the island’s schoolchildren to these fantastic authors next week.”
