Burna Boy Distances Himself from Fela Comparisons, Calls for Honesty in 2025

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has declared that he is not the reincarnation of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, stating, “I’m not Fela, I’m BIG7.”

In a series of Instagram posts on Monday, Burna Boy emphasized his focus on “positivity, peace, and prosperity” as the year comes to a close. However, he also addressed the issue of dishonesty, particularly on social media.

“Honestly, I’d rather kill you than die for you,” he wrote, taking a strong stance against hypocrisy.

Burna Boy called out individuals who he perceives as dishonest, saying, “If you ever lied about buying Sujimoto’s house in Banana Island when you only rented it, do better in 2025. If you ever lied about Elele’s house being yours, do better in 2025.”

He continued, “If you have an aftermarket ‘rainbow Daytona,’ please stop telling people it’s real. Do better in 2025.”

The artist stressed that dishonesty should be taken seriously, stating, “It should be a criminal offence to tell as many lies as certain men. The list can go on and on.”

Burna Boy further hinted at a potential interview with popular Nigerian host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, saying, “Ebuka still dey do all those interview? I no like interview at all, but I go like run 1.”
