Nigerian-born-British actress, singer and songwriter, Cynthia Erivo, might be on her way to winning the 2020 Oscars Award for Best Actress.

Erivo was born in Stockwell, London to Nigerian parents in 1987.

The actress-cum-singer is nominated for best actress for her role in ‘Harriet’, a biopic of anti-slavery campaigner, Harriet Tubman as well as best original song for ‘stand up’ the film’s soundtrack which she co-produced.

If the ‘Harriet’ actress wins in either of the categories, she will become the 16th person to win the Emmy, Grammy, Oscars and Tony Awards.

Erivo won the Tony Award for Best Actress in 2016 for her Celis Harris Johnson role in The Color Purple. She also won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album in 2017.
