2024 AMVCA: ‘Over the Bridge’, ‘Mami Wata’ Snags Most Nominations [FULL LIST]

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), on Sunday, announced the list of nominations for the 10th edition of the awards.

The AMVCA is an annual award presented by MultiChoice recognising outstanding achievements in television and film.

The award which is scheduled to be held on May 11, 2024 will take place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Earlier, organisers of the AMVCA had announced that the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress categories would now be determined by a jury, instead of public votes.

Tolu Ajayi’s ‘Over the Bridge’ is the most nominated film this year, clinching 12 nominations including Best Movie, Best Director, and Best Lead Actress followed by CJ Obasi’s ‘Mami Wata’ which snagged 11 nominations. ‘Breath of Life’ and ‘Jagun Jagun’ got 10 nominations each.

Similarly, 2023 Blockbuster ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ earned Timini Egbuson and Funke Akindele nominations in the Best5 Supporting Actor and Best Actress categories, respectively. The film, which shattered Box Office records, clinched five nominations in total.

Other strong contenders this year include Blood Vessel (eight nominations), and Afamefuna (four nominations).
