Ahead of its opening on April 2, 16 sub-committees that would ensure the smooth running of the 2022 Zuma Film Festival (ZUFF) have been inaugurated.

The Central Working Committee, Finance, Jury/Film Screening, Investiture, Mobilisation, Press/Publicity and others were jointly inaugurated on Thursday, March 3 by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr Olusade Adesola and Managing Director/Chief Executive, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Dr Chidia Maduekwe.

Commenting before the inauguration, Adesola disclosed that the FCTA’s decision to collaborate with the NFC and designate Abuja as the Official Host City of the film festival was deliberate and well thought out.

He said the action was geared towards promoting SME development and up-scaling the socio-economic well-being of residents of Abuja.

Adesola assured of FCTA’s commitment to supporting the partnership, committees, and successful festival hosting. He also charged committee members to bring their experiences to bear in the discharge of their duties and hit the ground running.

Earlier, MD of the NFC, Dr Maduekwe, noted that the collaboration between the FCTA and the NFC would make the mandate of galvanising and developing the film industry much more accessible.

The MD, who expressed optimism over a successful outing, also applauded the inauguration of the committees, saying it would ramp up preparations for the festival.

Dr Maduekwe asked the Publicity Committee to commence work immediately and create necessary awareness within Nigeria and beyond.

Secretary, Social Development, FCTA, Hajia Hadiza Kabir, who was also present at the event, hailed the successful inauguration of the sub-committees. She expressed confidence in the ability of members to deliver on their mandates speedily.
