Kenzo Takada, renowned designer and founder of popular fashion brand, ‘Kenzo’ has died aged 81.
According to his spokesperson, Kenzo died at the American Hospital, Paris after battling with ill-health from coronavirus complications.
With his “nearly 8,000 designs” the Japanesee designer “never stopped celebrating fashion and the art of living” his spokesman said.
Popular for his colourful graphic and floral prints, Kenzo was the first Japanese designer to gain prominence in the Paris fashion world. He created a line for men back in 1983 , and in 1988 he created his first perfume, ‘Kenzo Kenzo’.
The French-Japanese later sold his brand to luxury conglomerate, LVMH back in 1993 and left the brand in 1999.
Born in 1939, Kenzo developed a passion for drawing and sewing. Although temporarily, he moved to France in the 1960s, but ended up spending the rest of his career there.
