Veteran Actor, Tafa Oloyede, Dies At 69

Veteran Yoruba actor, John Adewuni, popularly known as Tafa Oloyede, is dead.

The Ede, Osun State-born actor, who began his acting career in 1974, died on Tuesday, after a brief illness.

According to Osun state Secretary of the Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria, Ademola Oyedokun, the late actor died at his residence in Osogbo on Tuesday.

“He (Tafa Oloyede) is dead. I just left the mortuary. I will brief you later,” Oyedokun told reporters.

Oloyede had his tutelage with the late Oyin Adejobi, and went on to enjoy fame after featuring in a movie titled Akanji Oniposi. He acted in several productions with another legendary Yoruba actor, Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande) and went on to feature in movies like ‘Jaiyesimi’, ‘Ayanmo’, ‘Ekuro Oloja’ and ‘Orogun’, among others.

He is survived by his wife and children.
