Filmmakers, journalists audio-visual industry players are being invited on Thursday October 19, 2023, from 15:00 to 17:00 (GMT+2) to take part in a UNESCO high-level discussion.

Titled “Film Sector on the Frontlines: the impact of AI on the audio-visual industry”, the event will hold at UNESCO’s Headquarters and will include a keynote message from the frontlines of Hollywood strikes by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.

France 24 journalist and presenter, Valériane Gauthier, will moderate an interactive discussion among prominent Artificial Intelligence and film industry experts from across the globe, who will share their insights and exchange diverse perspectives on the current landscape of AI in the film industry and consider the next steps for action and protection.

For more information, interested persons are urged to contact the Secretariat of the Convention.

“This high-level discussion aims to give the floor to actors, directors and other professionals from the film industry, as well as experts in artificial intelligence, in order to better understand this rapidly changing digital landscape and ensure that these transformations benefit us all,” organisers said in a statement made available to TCN.

Interpretation in English, French and Spanish will be available.
