Terry G Slams Billboard Over Afrobeats List

Nigerian singer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has accused American music magazine, Billboard, of “robbing” him by snubbing his songs in its recently released Top 50 ‘Best Afrobeats Songs of All-Time’ list.

Recall that ‘African Queen’ by 2Face topped the list curated by Billboard staff. Timaya’s ‘Dem Mama’, Weird MC’s ‘Ijoya’, and ‘Yahooze’ by Olu Maintain also made the cut.

However, Terry G’s hit songs, including ‘Akpako Master’, ‘Free Madness’, ‘Run Mad’ and others, were conspicuously missing from the list.

Reacting to a post by music monitoring platform, Chart Data, reporting ‘African Queen’ as number one on the list, Terry G claimed that he was “robbed.” He wrote, “TERRY G robbed.”

His post elicited mixed reactions, with some fans agreeing that he deserves to be on the list, while others argued that none of his songs stand a chance against ‘African Queen’ for the number one spot.
