Tems, Burna Boy Set New Billboard Hot 100 Record For African Artistes

Tems and Burna Boy have set a new milestone in global music, becoming the African artistes with the most entries on the Billboard US Hot 100 chart.

The record was secured after both singers debuted new songs on the chart through their features on J. Cole’s latest album, The Fall-Off.

‘Bounce Road Blues,’ which features Tems and Future, entered the chart at No. 34, while ‘Only You,’ featuring Burna Boy, debuted at No. 78. The new placements bring each artiste’s total career entries on the Billboard Hot 100 to eight — surpassing South African rock band Seether.

With the latest update, Tems now holds the distinction of being the African artiste with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries in 2026, having recorded three entries on the chart this year alone. Earlier, she became the first African female artiste to reach seven total entries, tying Burna Boy and Seether before now pulling ahead.

Burna Boy, on his part, continues to extend his own legacy on the American charts. The Grammy-winning singer has now achieved the feat of appearing on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years — from 2021 through 2026 — making him the first African artiste to sustain such a run.

His previous charting records include ‘Loved By You’ (2021), ‘Last Last’ (2022), ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ and ‘Talibans II’ (2023), ‘Just Like Me’ and ‘We Pray’ (2024), ‘WGFT’ (2025), and now ‘Only You’ (2026).

The achievement underscores Afrobeats’ continued global expansion, as African artistes increasingly secure mainstream visibility on one of the world’s most competitive music charts.
