A groundbreaking moment in the world of art and disability awareness is set to unfold as 15-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, an autistic artist from Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, attempts to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest Art Canvas.
The attempt will commence on Tuesday, 26th November 2024, and it promises to be an inspiring display of creativity, determination, and the power to overcome challenges.
Kanyeyachukwu has spent the last several months excitedly and enthusiastically preparing to create the largest canvas painting ever produced by an artist his age.
The current record, held by Emad Salehi, stands at 9652 square meters. Kanyeyachukwu’s canvas, measuring an impressive 10,000 Square meters, will reflect his unique perspective, artistic talent, and unwavering passion foself-expression.
Diagnosed with autism at an early age, Kanyeyachukwu has always used art as a means of communication and exploration.
His work explores themes of colors, emotion, otherworldly
imagination, and the connections between one’s inner humanity and the environment.
In a statement made available to TCN, this record-breaking canvas aims to show the world that artistic ability, regardless of age, background, or neurodiversity knows no boundaries.
“This record attempt is more than just about breaking a world record,” says Kanyeyachukwu’s parent, Tagbo Okeke.
In addition to raising awareness for autism, kanyeyachukwu is also giving back to society by using this record attempt, titled
“Impossibility is a Myth,” to raise funds for the building of The Zeebah Foundation’s state-of-the-art Autism Resource center in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Zeebah foundation of which Kanye is a pioneer student is a not-for-profit organization that provides resources for children on the autism spectrum, their parents, and caregivers.
“This GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt will be open to the public on specific days, and attendees will have the chance to witness the incredible effort and creativity involved in
completing this monumental piece of art,” the statement reads. “Special guests, children from all over the country, artists, and local community leaders will be present to offer their support and celebrate Kanyeyachukwu’s accomplishment,” it added.
The promoters of the initiative gives special thanks to the Chief of Defense Staff, The Acting Chief of Army Staff, The Guards
Brigade, and the 176 DIV Gwagwalada for providing the space for this monumental canvas to be launched and measured on their grounds. “And for their humanitarian support to Kanyeyachukwu in realizing his dreams to doing what he loves, paint and in turn give back to the autism community.”
