There are several items you should never travel without, but it can vary depending on your destination and personal needs. Here are the six essential items that are generally useful for most travellers…

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
It might be an obvious one, but always pack your passport, visa, and any required permits that you may need. Printed and digital copies of your itinerary, hotel reservations, and important contact numbers are also essential

MONEY AND PAYMENT METHODS
Be sure to take sufficient local currency and some US Dollars or Euros for emergencies. Your credit/debit cards and, if possible, a backup card is also important.

HEALTH ESSENTIALS
Pack any and all prescription medications and a copy of your prescriptions if you need to purchase them while travelling. A basic first aid kit with items like pain relievers, band-aids, and any personal medications is a bonus.

TECHNOLOGY AND GADGETS
While hardly anyone travels without their smartphone and charger now, don’t forget to pack it! You could also pack a power bank to keep your devices charged on the go or if there’s electricity issues where you’re travelling to. A universal adapter for different power outlets in various countries is also a must.

TRAVEL COMFORT ITEMS
Pack your neck pillow and eye mask for better sleep during those long-haul flights, as well as comfortable walking shoes that’ll be suitable for various activities.

SAFETY AND SECURITY ITEMS
Security items are a must when travelling. Take along locks for your luggage and backpack, as well as a money belt or hidden pouch for valuables. Emergency contact information and a photocopy of important documents is also super important.
