Seun Kuti Set To Release Highly Anticipated Album ‘Heavier Yet’

Afrobeat virtuoso Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Fela Kuti, is poised to release his latest musical masterpiece, “Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head).”

This album comes six years after his Grammy-nominated project “Black Times” and marks a significant evolution in Kuti’s career as both an artiste and an activist.

Produced by music icon Lenny Kravitz and Fela Kuti’s original engineer Sodi Marciszewer, “Heavier Yet” promises a unique sonic experience that honors the roots of afrobeat while pushing contemporary boundaries. With their combined expertise, the album is set to redefine musical landscapes.

The six electrifying tracks within “Heavier Yet” embody themes of resistance, resilience, and revolution. The song “T.O.P.” critiques society’s prioritisation of money and success over human connection, promoting empathy and a reconnection with nature. Meanwhile, “Love and Revolution” expresses Kuti’s deep love for his wife and its potential to inspire societal change.

Reflecting on the album’s creation, Seun Kuti expresses heartfelt gratitude to Lenny Kravitz for his unwavering support and guidance, describing their collaboration as a testament to brotherly love and respect.

He also acknowledges the invaluable contributions of Craig Ross and Sodi, highlighting the enriching studio experience they provided.

In addition to Kuti’s solo tracks, the album features two notable collaborations: “Dey” with reggae superstar Damian Marley and “Emi Aluta” with the talented Sampa the Great. Each song is a testament to Kuti’s commitment to using music as a catalyst for social change and empowerment.

“Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)” will be available on all major streaming platforms, promising to not only entertain but also inspire a spirit of activism and liberation
