Governor Dapo Abiodun has extended warm congratulations to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, as Ijebuland marks the Ojude Oba Festival on Sunday in Ogun state.

The cultural event, which is translated to “The King’s Forecourt,” is held annually in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, three days after the Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) celebration.

The festival is usually held at the Awujale Pavilion, and it is renowned for its grandeur, colourful pageantry, and celebration of Yoruba heritage, unity, and pride.

In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, Governor Abiodun congratulated the monarch and all sons and daughters of Ijebuland, describing Ojude Oba as one of the most culturally significant festivals in the country.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ogun State, I warmly congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, and all sons and daughters of Ijebuland on the celebration of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival,” the statement read.

Abiodun highlighted the festival’s enduring role as a symbol of cultural preservation and unity, lauding Oba Adetona for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the growth of Ijebuland.

“This vibrant festival remains a proud symbol of our cultural heritage and unity.

“We salute Kabiyesi’s visionary leadership and the enduring spirit of the Ijebu people, whose contributions continue to enrich Ogun State.

“May the splendour of Ojude Oba endure through generations.

“Long live the Awujale! Long live Ijebuland!” the governor concluded.
