NFVCB Boss, Husseini Declares Nollywood Training Programme Open

The Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini, has officially declared open a capacity-building training programme for stakeholders in the Nigerian film industry, reinforcing the Board’s commitment to the growth and global competitiveness of Nollywood.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Husseini who was represented by Lagos Zonal officer Mr Danlami pauemphasized the importance of continuous training and professional development in sustaining the rapid growth of the industry. The programme is designed to equip filmmakers, producers, directors, and other practitioners with modern skills, regulatory knowledge, and global best practices.

He noted that as Nollywood continues to gain international recognition, there is a growing need to ensure that content creators are well-versed in industry standards, classification guidelines, and ethical storytelling.

“This training is part of our broader mandate to strengthen the industry by promoting professionalism, safeguarding cultural values, and ensuring that Nigerian content meets both local and international expectations,” he stated.

Participants at the training will benefit from sessions led by seasoned industry experts, covering areas such as content development, film classification, production standards, and distribution strategies.

Earlier in the programme, the Chairman of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Hon Jakande delivered a goodwill address at where he praised Nollywood and the organisers for bringing the training initiative to the community. He urged participating youths to take full advantage of the opportunity, emphasizing that the programme could serve as a pathway to building sustainable careers within the creative industry.

In his closing remarks, Seun Oloketuyi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards and a respected Nigerian film producer, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for sponsoring the event. He also encouraged the youths participating in the programme to take the training seriously, stressing that commitment and dedication are critical to long-term success in Nollywood.

The NFVCB reiterated its dedication to fostering collaboration across the industry and supporting initiatives that enhance capacity, creativity, and compliance within Nollywood.

The training programme is expected to run over the coming days, with participants drawn from various segments of the film ecosystem across the country.
