MultiChoice Nigeria has announced that the fourth season of its hit drama series Wura will now be available to a wider audience, as part of efforts to make premium content more accessible across its platforms.

Speaking during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, Atinuke Babatunde, said the decision reflects the company’s broader strategy to democratize high-quality storytelling for viewers on both DStv and GOtv.

According to her, while the new season was initially slated for exclusive broadcast on Africa Magic Showcase, the company opted to extend availability to Africa Magic Family, ensuring that more subscribers can watch the series.

“At MultiChoice, our priority remains delivering premium content that reflects our culture and resonates with audiences,” Babatunde said. “We decided to open it up because premium content should be enjoyed by everyone.”

The announcement was made during a session that featured key members of the show’s cast and crew, including Scarlet Gomez, Yomi Fash Lanso, and Musa Jeffery David.

Head writer Musa Jeffery David noted that the continued success of the series, alongside its rich source material, influenced the development of a fourth season. He explained that Wura is adapted from the South African telenovela The River, which spans six seasons, leaving room for deeper storytelling.

He added that the upcoming season will introduce more complex themes, including political dynamics that mirror real-life societal issues.

Season 4 is also expected to showcase a new dimension of lead character portrayal, with Scarlet Gomez delivering a more emotionally layered performance as the story explores themes of power, leadership, and justice.

The expansion of access to Wura underscores MultiChoice’s ongoing push to broaden viewership and strengthen engagement with locally produced content across Africa.
