A British-Nigerian shoe designer, Liz Sanya, has completed her attempt to set a Guinness World Record, GWR, for the largest sandal.

The massive pink clog measures 3.156 metres (10ft 4.2 inches) in width and 8.147 metres (26 feet 8.8 inches) in length.

Sanya started designing the sandal on January 2 2025, after confirmation by the GWR, and completed it on January 4.

The 72 hour event which took place at Pixel Park in Lekki, Lagos, was attended by many celebrities, including Pheelz, Mayorkun, Korty EO and P.Prime.

A group of artisans from Municipio De Sahauyo holds the current record with 7.45 metres (24 feet 5.31 inches) long and 3.09 metres (10 feet 1.65 inches) wide.

Speaking about the attempt, Sanya expressed gratitude to her supporters and noted that she chose to attempt the record in Nigeria because of her connection to the country.

“I’ll never be able to put into words what any of this means to me. None of this has been possible without the support and compassion of the people who believe in my vision.

“Ibadan is where I was born. Lagos is where I was inspired. It was only right to come back home and prove it. 1 world record to beat, within 72hrs.”
