Lagos Seals Hotel Over Noise Pollution, Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed off Flourish Hotel, located at New Ipaja Scheme II, Ipaja Housing Estate, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations.

The development was disclosed in a statement shared by the agency on X (Formerly Twitter) on Friday, as part of its intensified enforcement drive against environmental offenders across the state.

According to LASEPA, the enforcement action was carried out on Friday, following repeated breaches of Lagos State environmental regulations by the facility.

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency today sealed off Flourish Hotel located at New Ipaja Scheme II, Ipaja Housing Estate, AIT opposite Obasanjo Bridge Roundabout, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations,” the statement read.

The agency explained that the sanction followed investigations which revealed that the establishment consistently violated stipulated environmental standards, particularly with excessive noise levels.

Investigations, it said, showed that the hotel’s activities “constitute a nuisance to residents and pose risks to public health.”

Speaking during the enforcement exercise, the General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and enforcing compliance with existing laws.

Ajayi stated, “Noise pollution and other environmental abuses threaten the quality of life and well-being of residents,” stressing that the sealing of the facility reflects the agency’s determination to uphold environmental standards across Lagos State.

He added that the exercise demonstrates LASEPA’s resolve “to promote a cleaner and healthier Lagos,” in line with the state government’s environmental sustainability goals.

The LASEPA boss also appealed to residents and business operators to comply strictly with environmental regulations.

He emphasised that the agency would continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against environmental infractions, noting that compliance with the law is critical to achieving a sustainable and liveable Lagos.
