Award-winning filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has been awarded Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year at the International Tourism Investment Summit in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The summit, themed #ITSOyoState2025, held from July 22-24, 2025.

The award, presented at the Governor’s Dinner and Tourism Awards Night, honours Afolayan’s outstanding contribution to the tourism industry through his KAP Film Village & Resort in Igbojaye, Oyo State.

The KAP Film Village & Resort has become a leading attraction for both tourists and creatives, blending nature, film, and hospitality to create a space rooted in African identity.

As the founder of this innovative destination, Afolayan has built an ecosystem that brings storytelling, heritage, and tourism together, promoting African stories and culture.

Grateful for the recognition, Afolayan’s management said, “We’re truly grateful for this recognition. It’s not just about one man’s dream. It’s about a team that continues to work with passion to build something lasting.”

Afolayan and his team also thanked Governor Seyi Makinde, Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Akinwale Akinwole, Chairman of Oyo State Local Service Government Commission; Tola Akerele, CEO of the National Theatre; and the Ministry Art, Culture and the Creative Economy for their encouragement and support.

According to KAP, the award serves as motivation to continue building something that makes Nigeria proud, “This award is not the end; it’s fuel to keep going, to keep dreaming, and to keep building something that makes Nigeria proud”.
