Famous actor and martial artiste, Jet Li, has shared fond memories of working with late rapper and actor DMX on the films ‘Romeo Must Die’ and ‘Cradle 2 the Grave’.

Speaking with PEOPLE while promoting his new book ‘Beyond Life and Death: The Way of True Freedom’, the martial arts icon recalled the strong bond shared among the cast members during filming.

Li praised late singer Aaliyah for being “very charming and pretty,” while describing DMX as a “very cool guy” with a unique personality.

“Everybody in the film loved each other. Aaliyah was very charming and pretty. With Anthony Anderson and DMX, we’d all work together, and it’s a very strong memory in my heart,” he said.

Speaking further about DMX, Li revealed that the rapper often kept to himself on set, sometimes spending time playing video games between scenes.

“We would be working, and DMX was on the side. I’d look at him, and he was playing video games. Everybody would say, ‘Wait, we need to go to work,’ and he would say, ‘Wait a minute, I need to finish with this car game,’” Li recalled with laughter.
