Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has praised his nephew, the music star Davido, for making the state and the Adeleke family proud on the world stage.

The Governor made this statement after Davido performed at the 2026 Coachella music festival in California, USA. During his show, Davido honoured his hometown, Ede, by playing a traditional Yoruba chant “oríkì” for the large crowd.

Governor Adeleke shared a video of the performance on his social media page. The video showed bright lights and dancers as the traditional chant was delivered to thousands of fans. The Governor said it was a great moment for the family and for Osun State.

“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido is putting the family, our heritage, and state on the global map,” the Governor wrote.

Davido was the only Nigerian artist invited to perform at the festival this year. He performed many of his hit songs like Dami Duro, Skelewu, and Aye. During his performance, the singer brought out Adekunle Gold to perform their song High together.
