Actor Eric Dane, best known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, has died at the age of 53 following a battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). His family confirmed the news in a statement, saying he passed away surrounded by loved ones after months of advocating for awareness about the neurodegenerative condition.

Dane rose to global recognition as Dr Mark Sloan, popularly known as “Dr McSteamy,” on Grey’s Anatomy, a role that cemented his status as one of television’s most recognisable faces. He later gained renewed acclaim portraying Cal Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria, showcasing a darker, more complex side of his acting range.
