It promises to be a night of razzmatazz, display of cultural elegance and high fashion synonymous with Lasgidi as the Lagos Soiree stages a return for the second year running.
This prestigious event which is fast becoming a regular feature of Lagos State’s entertainment landscape brings together prominent Africans home and abroad for a night of glitz and glamour to celebrate the men who have demonstrated good values, distinguished themselves in their diverse fields of endeavour and are committed to societal progress.
Lagos Soiree is staging this return following the success of the first edition.
This is even as the competitive award nominations for the 9th EMY Africa Awards is set to be announced on the night of the Lagos Soiree.
This roll call of events was announced by Kojo Soboh, Founder, EMY Africa at a media conference held at the prestigious Mercedes Benz Center in Victoria Island on Friday.

“The EMY Africa Soiree is set to make another triumphant return to Lagos on Saturday, 7th September, 2024.
“The event will take place at the elegant Mercedes Benz Center in Lagos.
“It promises to be a night of fun and I expect to see the high fashion sense Lagos is known for on display.
“It will also be the assemblage of some of the most inspirational personalities in Africa” he said.
Speaking on the line up of events, Soboh disclosed that the announcement of the competitive award nominations for the 9th EMY Africa Awards will be made on the night.
“After the Lagos Soirée on 7th September 2024, the Men of the Year Party will take place on 21st September, official pre awards party.
EMY Africa Awards will go down on 26th October while the EMY Africa Magazine Game Changers and Generation Now will take place in October and December” he disclosed.
Continuing, Soboh said, “As we move into the latter part of the year, EMY Africa remains focused on its mission to celebrate African excellence and promote leadership within Ghana and the African community.
“All roads lead to the 9th EMY Africa Awards, which promises to be an even more expansive and impactful event this year. Furthermore, we are exploring new partnerships and initiatives that will continue to elevate EMY Africa’s influence and reach” he added.
Soboh also gave a rundown of the milestones recorded in the course of the year which he disclosed has been marked by significant milestones, innovative projects, and a commitment to celebrating African excellence.
Some of the milestones highlighted include hosting Stevie Wonder in Ghana in May, 2024, the maiden edition of the EMY Africa Expo, which had an Art Exhibition, an Insurance Forum, the Live in the Park Concert with Kidi, and the Fashion Extravaganza on display between June 14-16, 2024 and two landmark events: the Africa Rising Symposium and the London Soirée.
Speaking on the awards itself, he said: “The Annual EMY Africa Awards honours men who have demonstrated good values, distinguished themselves in their diverse fields of endeavour and are committed to societal progress. It also gives complementary awards to women who have made an impact in
society.
The EMY Africa Awards has in the past 9 years elevated countless achievers across local industries, communities, culture, and public service in Africa and beyond by celebrating and spotlighting their inspirational achievements. From Nigeria, notable figures who have
been honoured on the EMY Awards platform include Akinwumi Adesina, Tony Elumelu, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Adebola Williams, Lanre Olusola, Seyi Tinubu, Ayo Animashaun, Micheal Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Ayo Makun.
Last year, four notable Nigerians were honoured at the 8th EMY Africa Awards; they are –
Olugbenga Agboola (for Man of the Year – Technology), Chief Dele Momodu (Special Recognition Award), Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade (Mr Eazi) (Young Achiever – Male), and
Tajudeen Adepetu (Media Excellence Award)” he disclosed.
Soboh also reserved special commendation for Latasha Ngwube popularly known as Latasha Lagos and Nene Beside of Blanche Aigle Communications for their support on the project.
