Ondo Kingdom is gearing up for a major cultural spectacle on December 27 as it prepares to host top traditional rulers, notable personalities and leading entertainers for a rebranded and expanded 2025 edition of Ekimogun Day.

The Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, will preside over the grand finale, which is expected to attract distinguished royal guests including the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, and the Ochi’doma of Idoma Kingdom, Dr. John Elaigwu.

Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye of Nibanola Golf Resort, Ondo, is expected as Chairman of the Day, while Chief Victor Folami Awosika, the Lomafe of Ondo Kingdom, has been named Chief Launcher.

Several activities leading up to the main event have already commenced, including an intercollegiate football match. The celebrations will climax with a gala night expected to draw Ondo elites, dignitaries, social clubs and fun seekers.

Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Mr. Abiodun Akinjayeju, explained in a statement, that the team is committed to delivering one of the most memorable editions in recent years. He noted that the expanded format and festive timing were designed to boost participation by Ondo indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

The entertainment lineup promises an exciting mix of cultural and contemporary performances, led by Afro-Juju maestro Sir Shina Peters. Others billed to thrill the audience include Apala star Musiliu Ishola, budding Ondo talent Dapsing and Emperor Adegeye, son of music legend King Sunny Ade.

Akinjayeju stated,” More than 30 years after its inception, Ekimogun Day remains a vital platform for celebrating Ondo heritage, fostering unity and supporting development initiatives across the kingdom.”
