Call for applications: 2021 Haba na Haba Dance Festival in Tanzania

Tanzanian cultural organisation Asedeva is inviting musicians to apply for the 2021 edition of Haba na Haba Dance Festival in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 26 to 31 July.

The invitation applies to artists who explore both traditional and contemporary dance.

The annual festival serves as a training and performance platform for participants who want to share ideas, learn more about the challenges in the music sector and expand networking opportunities with the festival organisers, relevant cultural institutions and donors.

The 2021 programme will include a one-week traditional dance workshop, which will take place before the official festival begins.

Requirements

Applicants should email the following requirements to  habanahabadance@gmail.com(link sends e-mail)

  • Application letter (in English or Swahili).
  • A bio/profile of the group.
  • The latest video link, accompanied by a brief description of the dance piece.
  • Three high-resolution photos (JPEG format).
  • Lights technical rider.

The application deadline is 31 January. Only successful candidates will be contacted.

This year’s edition took place virtually from 31 July and 1 August and included panel discussions and performances.
