This movie was truly a breath of fresh air. Produced by Eku Edewor, this masterpiece is the kind of story I d love too see more of in Nollywood. This was one full of pain , love and hope. It was really impressive. I like the progression of the story from scene to scene. Loved how the soundtracks induced appropriate emotions.
I also liked the efforts made; CGI wise. Above all..I absolutely loved the simplicity of the story. The love angle between Anna and Elijah was sweet and for the first time in naija movie history, not cringeworthy. Genoveva Umeh was such a sweetheart in this movie.
For me, I think Wale Ojo didn’t reach his full potential in this movie.. I’ve seen him do better. There was a small discrepancy with the timeline; Timi lost his family in 1968 and 35yrs later, Elijah comes into his life. Elijah spent at least a yr and a half working for Timi, so there was no way Timi could have died the same year Elijah came into his life.
Also , the movie didn’t portray enough love/bond between Timi and Elijah for him to adopt him on his sick bed , let alone give his life and donate his precious lungs to him. Speaking of lungs.. would’ve made more sense to cast Timi as a competitive swimmer or even as an exceptional naval diver or something due to the strength of his lungs.
Making it seem like all the lungs were good for was to stay underwater for a long period of time just seemed like a waste of good content to me. Also, there was no part where Timi finally confided in Elijah and told him his life story, so how did Elijah know that much to be the narrator of the movie
The last scene with Elijah testing out his new lungs all the way in Cambridge when there are pools in Nigeria was just somehow.
*FYI* the legend hotel didn’t exist in 2003 ( but what do I know)
Nevertheless, this was a good watch and I absolutely recommend
My Rating 7.5/10
