AMVCA 2026: Digital Content Creator Category Set To Light Up Awards

Stakeholders in the creative industry have highlighted the growing influence of digital creators in mainstream film conversations following the release of nominations for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026.

According to them, the Best Digital Content Creator category alone is shaping up to be one of the most competitive this year, featuring names like Elozonam Ogbolu and Genoveva Umeh, Akwaman, Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom, Benedict Ehimare Oriaifo, Taaooma, and Steve Chuks.

Among the names drawing attention early is Dezny, whose nomination signals the growing influence of digital creators in mainstream film conversations. Known for his storytelling style and as the originator of the viral “Dezny Walk”, his inclusion reflects how far digital content has come. Backed by consistency and a strong audience base, his name is not just on the list, it is one people are watching closely.

But beyond that early spotlight, this category is packed.

It is this mix of styles, audiences, and creative approaches that has made the category particularly exciting. There is no clear frontrunner, and that uncertainty is exactly what is fueling conversations.

Wider nominations list has only added to the intensity. Films like Gingerrr, The Herd, and My Father’s Shadow are leading across multiple categories, reinforcing their dominance over the past year and setting up major clashes in key award segments.

With returning nominees, first-time contenders, and projects that have already made waves both critically and commercially, this year’s edition feels less predictable than usual.

All roads now lead to May 9, 2026, when the ceremony will take place in Lagos, the heart of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
