Agege, Surulere Top List Of Areas With Worst Air Quality In Lagos

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has unveiled its latest Air Quality Index, revealing that Agege and Surulere rank as the areas with the worst air quality in Lagos State.


This was disclosed in LASEPA’s Air Quality Index report for October 2024, which was shared on its verified X page on Tuesday.


According to the report, Agege recorded the worst air quality with a hazardous rating of 103 percent, indicating a severe pollution level harmful to public health, followed by Surulere with a “very unhealthy” rating of 76.1 percent.


Other areas listed include Mushin with 47.3 percent (unhealthy) and LAMATA Kosefe at 46 percent (unhealthy).


The Lagos Port at Apapa was next on the list with a score of 36.4 per cent (unhealthy), while Badagry and Moloney Street reported scores of 23.8 percent and 20.7 percent, respectively, both classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups.


Egbeda recorded a score of 15.7 percent, and NIMET Oshodi followed with 14.1 percent, both categorised as moderate.


In contrast, Lekki emerged as the area with the best air quality at 10.1 percent, while LASEPA rated its own air quality at 7.6 percent, also considered good.
