Togo has set aside two dates for the screening of AFROTOPIA, a new film, as part of the continental film initiative by the Film Africa Network ( FAN).
The initiative is a partnership between the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) and Driving Park Limited.
In a press release by the FAN Representative in Togo, Ms Juliette Gamli, the two events will take place on October 24, 2026 at the Mairie Kpalime Ville 1 in Kpalime and on November 7 2026 at the Adidogame Technical High School in Lome.
AFROTOPIA by a Franco-Gabonese filmmaker, David Mboussou, is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Felwine Sarr.
Like the book, the film defends the idea of a continent capable of inventing its own models through the reappropriation of its imaginaries.
The pilot Pan African Film screening programme by FAN represents the beginning of a long-term continental programme which will evolve into a permanent Pan-African platform for the exhibition and promotion of African cinema.
FAN expresses its appreciation for the support and commitment from donor agencies and stakeholders in the film industry for this historic initiative towards building a truly Pan-African platform for African cinema.
The statement says the dates for film screenings in other selected African countries will be announced in due course.
