Popular singer, Yemi Alade will record and perform the theme song for the upcoming Lion Forge Entertainment’s Nigerian superhero animation ‘Iyanu’.

The singer announced this in a video message posted on the serial’s YouTube channel on Saturday.

She said: “Hello, everyone, my name is Yemi Alade. I’ve fantastic news for you today. I just want to share with you right now that I’ve been asked to sing the theme song for the incredible animated series ‘Iyanu’.

“Enjoy my song ‘Iyanu’ right now. This is a love message from me to you and I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.”

Steeped in Nigerian culture and mythology, ‘Iyanu’ is an adaptation of the popular graphic novel Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Nigerian creator and filmmaker Roye Okupe.

The main title theme song is a collaboration between Yemi Alade, Lion Forge Entertainment, Alcon Sleeping Giant, and Femi Agunbiade, the lead composer for the series.

‘Iyanu’ is scheduled to debut in the U.S. and across Africa in 2025. U.S. audiences can catch the series on Cartoon Network and Max, while it will be available in 44 African countries via Showmax.

The star-studded cast includes Serah Johnson as Iyanu, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.

Yemi Alade has previously worked on Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King: The Gift’ album which was a theme album for the eponymous animated movie.
