Lagos Comic Con 2024 will return on Saturday, September 14, to attract creatives, entrepreneurs, and fans from across the continent to celebrate the nexus of art, culture, and business.
This year’s event, themed ‘Creative Diversity for Economic Growth,’ underscores the potential of creativity to propel economic development.
“Attendees can enjoy activities like ‘Guess the Music’ speed dating, karaoke, and ‘Geek Charades.’ There will also be live performances that blend music, dance, and geek culture, ensuring that every moment is filled with excitement,” shared Ayodele Elegba, convener of convention.
A key highlight will be a panel session on the ‘Iyanu’ comic series, which has received international acclaim for its innovative storytelling. “This session will delve into how ‘Iyanu’ and similar projects are reshaping African narratives, amplifying the continent’s voice in the global comic scene,” Elegba added.
The 2024 edition features an impressive lineup, with the Oscar-winning American animation studio, LionForge, unveiling the much-anticipated animated series, ‘Iyanu,’ which is set to premiere in 2025. The convention will serve as a hub for creatives to showcase their talents, explore new career opportunities, and forge valuable connections.
Highlights will include The Minimie cosplay competitions between Gen Z and Millennials, gaming tournaments, and networking sessions.
Additionally, Cameroon-based Zebra Comics will scout new talent, creating opportunities for African artists and illustrators.
