by The Culture Newspaper September 15, 2024
The African Fashion and Art Award (AFAA) has quickly established itself as a premier platform for showcasing African creativity on the global stage.

Since its inception in 2021, AFAA has been instrumental in elevating African cultural heritage and fostering artistic talent through strategic partnerships and impactful initiatives.

The upcoming Annual African Fashion & Art Award, scheduled for November 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa, promises to be a landmark event, featuring Africa’s most prominent creatives and further establishing AFAA as a leading platform for excellence.

Beyond the annual award ceremony, AFAA has been actively involved in supporting emerging artists and designers through mentorship programs, workshops, and collaborative projects.

The organisation’s commitment to sustainability is also evident through its support of eco-friendly practices and ethical fashion.

Key milestones in AFAA’s journey include its successful debut at the International African Trade Fair (IATF) in 2021, followed by influential showcases in Cairo, Egypt, and Tanzania. Recent exhibitions in Rwanda and Nairobi have further solidified AFAA’s position as a leading platform for African fashion and art.
