The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has called for efforts to enhance youth representation in Nollywood. AGN President Dr. Emeka Rollas, in partnership with the “I Am the Future of Nigeria” Youth Initiative, emphasized the need to consider multi-talented young individuals.
Mrs. Noni Okocha, CEO of “I Am the Future of Nigeria,” advocated for Tobechi Achionye, popularly known as “Kind Toby” – a talented artist, musician, and pianist living with autism. The collaboration aims to create awareness and open opportunities for neurodiverse and differently-abled talents in film and creative arts, affirming that every talent deserves a platform and every story deserves to be told.
“Nollywood is not just about acting; it’s about reflecting society and inspiring change,” said Dr. Emeka Rollas (MON), AGN President. “Through inclusion, we empower unseen voices and expand our industry’s creative richness.”
Kind Toby, represented by Mrs. Okocha, said, “Tobechi’s journey reminds us that creativity knows no bounds. Our mission is to ensure young people living with autism and other disabilities are seen, supported, and celebrated in the creative world.”
The AGN and “I Am the Future of Nigeria” Youth Initiative share a vision to make inclusion the norm in Nollywood, championing empathy, access, and empowerment through film and storytelling. Together, they’re leading a movement celebrating ability over disability and using art to change perceptions and build a kinder, more inclusive society.
