MO & ME: Mohamed Amin’s Historical Biography Screens To Global Audience

Mo and Me, the historical biography of Africa’s most accomplished Photojournalist Mohamed Amin, has made its streaming debut to a global audience.

The film is available on MyMovies.Africa™, in 195 Countries & Territories, and was released on the sideline of the recent African World Heritage Day (5th May) to celebrate cultural and natural heritage of Africa.

The 96-minute film documents the life of Kenya’s most ambitious and decorated Photojournalist, who braved 28 Days of torture, survived bombs and bullets and even lost his left arm during an ammunition dump explosion, in his quest for the story.

His coverage of the 1984 Ethiopian famine, for example, proved so compelling, that it inspired a collective global conscience and the greatest act of giving in the 20th Century.  Mo served as both the Inspiration, and as a catalyst, for Band Aid, USA for Africa and Live Aid.  His pictures shamed the world into action and undoubtedly rescued a country from absolute destruction by famine.

Salim Amin, son of the late Journalist, Chairman of Camerapix and Mohammed Amin Foundation, he expressed his delight at being able to showcase the biography to a global audience.

“We are thrilled to work with the Kenyan streaming service of MyMovies.Africa™, to Show my Father’s remarkable Story of Africa’s emergence into the 20th Century, to a Global audience” he says.

He added that “We are also happy that the Documentary is Distributed by Clark and Hampton – one of East Africa’s leading Content Aggregators and whose Director & Founder – Tony Mwite, was a student at the Mohamed Amin Foundation”

So far MO & ME has won 30 awards for Best Documentary in the United States, Canada, India and on the African continent, including the Grand Jury Award at the New York International Film Festival.

The 96-minute Film has also screened at the prestigious British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA), as well as the Cannes Film Festival.
