Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has been featured in the 2025 TIME100 Next list which spotlights the world’s most influential rising stars.
The list published on Tuesday features people from an array of industries, from movies and music to sports and science to politics and philanthropy.
Rema is the only African artist honoured this year. His profile was written by the legendary musician, Angélique Kidjo.
“The young Nigerian superstar has accomplished so much: ‘Calm Down’ has joined the billion-streams club twice over,” Kidjo noted.
“Rema is the embodiment of the international success of Afrobeats. Thanks to artists like him, African music is at the forefront of global culture,” the multiple Grammy-winner added.
Global music powerhouses like Teyana Taylor and GloRilla are also among the 100 emerging leaders and entertainers who made the cut for the TIME100 Next list.
