NFVCB announces SPY Police training for Nollywood guilds

As part of efforts to include industry players in policing, monitoring and enforcement activities, the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) says it will facilitate a SUPERNUMERARY (SPY) Training for them at the Police Training College, Ikeja, Lagos.

A statement signed by Winston Chuks Obikwelu, Head, Associations-Guilds, Office of the Executive Director, NFVCB, Adedayo Thomas and sent to bodies recognised by the Board on Thursday, contained this information. 

He requested the professional Associations/ Guilds to forward a name with a copy of educational qualifications attached to him at chuckwinston88@gmail.com latest Tuesday, March 16. 

Obikwelu, who described the initiative as an ‘innovation’, further called it a new strategic partnership between the NFVCB / members of professional Associations/ Guilds.

His full statement read: “Furtherance to your formal recognition by NFVCB as registered professional members of Associations/ Guilds within the film and video industry, in accordance with section 17. Sub (2) and (3) of NFVCB Regulations 2008. 

“Accordingly, the Executive Director/ CEO of NFVCB has made another groundbreaking innovation into the Film industry, pursuant to section 5(3) of NFVCB Act and of all other powers enabling the Board in that behalf. 

 “However, as a strategic partners and critical stakeholders in the sector, the Executive Director/ CEO has directed for immediate inclusion of selected persons from the professional members of Associations/ Guilds to undergo Police SUPERNUMERARY (SPY) Training at Police Training college Ikeja, Lagos. The trainees will have the power, privileges and immunities of a Police officer, pursuant to Nigeria Police Act, 2020.

 “The new strategic partnership between the NFVCB / Members of professional Associations/ Guilds under the innovative leadership of Alh Thomas Adedayo ( Executive Director/ CEO NFVCB is to involve the industry practitioners in Policing, monitoring and enforcement activities of the sector.

 “Therefore, I am further directed to inform all registered members of the professional Associations/ Guilds to forward a name with attach copy of educational qualifications to the email provided hereunder before Tuesday March 16, 2021.
