Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has described Akwa Ibom as one of Africa’s top five travel destinations, citing the state’s world-class facilities and serene environment.
Speaking at a pre-concert reception hosted on Sunday by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in Uyo, Davido said his decision to kick off his first live concert in Nigeria after 14 years on stage was influenced by the state’s impressive infrastructure and hospitality.
According to him, everything about Akwa Ibom is “beautiful,” adding that if other Nigerian states mirrored its standard, touring the country would be more enjoyable.
The music star lauded Governor Eno for maintaining peace and security in the state and for creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
“When we were looking around Africa, five places came up, and Akwa Ibom was top on the list,” Davido said. “A lot of people are flying in from other states that don’t have this kind of facility.
“I am excited — this is the best of its kind. We toured America already, and it was a great success. We were looking for a good facility in Africa, and Akwa Ibom stood out. You have a standard facility, that’s why we’re starting here. As time goes on, we’ll visit other states, but for now, let’s get ready to shut it down.”
In his remarks, Akpabio commended Governor Eno for his visionary and youth-friendly leadership.
