South African singer Tyla continued her dominance over fellow African artists on international awards stages as she snagged the highly coveted Favourite Afrobeats Artist at the 2025 American Music Awards held on Monday night at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Las Vegas.

The ‘Water’ hitmaker fought off competition from Nigerian giants, Wizkid, Rema, Tems and Asake.

Wizkid won the maiden Favourite Afrobeats Artist award at the AMAS in 2022 on the wave of his hit song, ‘Essence.’

The biggest winner of the night, however, is Billie Eilish, who won all her seven nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.

The biggest snubs are Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, who lost all of their nominations.

Eminem won his first AMA in 15 years and he took home the awards for the Favourite Male Hip-hop Artist as well as Favourite Hip-hop Album.
